Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Apr 07, 2018 8:26 am We bought an established house and the missus wants to put in a rainwater-tank. She is also pregnant. Plumber told us we have lead flashings that needs to be replaced to non-lead flashings if we want to plumb in the water tank, which we will like to do. We even have lead flashings that does not actually flash but merely put and curved to direct water flow away. Roof checked out- no asbestos or lead paint. Seeking second opinion. Will removing these flashings be a huge job? He said we have small sections on the roof that follows on the valley iron. I had previously thought valley irons are lead flashings anyway as well? In the removal process is there a risk of contaminating our yard/ areas with lead or is there industrial standards to follow minimise such occurrences? The second option is to paint over the flashings. The plumber doesn't think it's the best idea as the paint does not last. Any recommendation for roof works in Brisbane? Ta Mack Minimum overhang into gutter must be 50mm, turn down tool should not split the sheet. it seems wrong tool for the profile was used, the flashing cannot slope back.
