Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Feb 12, 2018 7:38 am Hi there I have a susbended floor on entry level of my house (timber with slate over the top). I want to insulate the subfloor (sound and thermal) of this level. Is it cheaper and easier to do from above (ie pull the slate and timber up - grand plan is to have the slate removed and hardwood floors layed anyway) or from below (ie take the ceiling out from the rooms below, insulating and then putting in a new ceiling)? Any help appreciated Thanks Chris Re: Insulating subfloor - from above or below??? 2Feb 14, 2018 9:58 pm Chrispo Hi there I have a susbended floor on entry level of my house (timber with slate over the top). Any help appreciated Thanks Chris If the floor did not need replacing, the second option of the ceiling below would be cheaper. Good luck. Regards James Mason www.renovationjunkies.com.au Jimbo73 I would use heaps of adhesive on each sheet and screw rather than nail. use as many as you like cheers Simeon 1 4075 XCEM Alpha flooring seems to relatively new and I could not found any reviews. Have you or someone you know have used it and would recommend over other subfloor options?… 2 7597 Would also like an opinion from anyone that has used xcem over hebel for floors. Thanks 1 14248 |
