VJ walls cracking within days of painting

Hello,

We recently had our Queenslander with VJ walls painted by a professional painter. Within 3 days the vertical joints had began to crack. There are now a lot of cracks in most rooms, affecting both the walls and ceiling. I did see the painter use no more gaps/a similar product. Is it common for cracks to appear this quickly?

I had never appreciated this degree of cracking with the previous paint which must have been almost a decade old. The painter put it down to "house movement" and temperature changes. Does this make sense with such rapid crack formation? Is there any other reason for cracking to occur so quickly?

Thanks!
