I live in an old 70's brick veneer home. We'd like to add a living area by slapping on a "box" at the back. Nothing complex. The original plan was to simply put up 3 brick walls, gabled tile roof, a couple of windows and a patio door.
The draftsman I spoke to suggested that if I wanted to save costs I could use cladding instead of brick and skillion roof instead of gabled. I said definitely gabled roof as I want it to blend with the house and not look like an afterthought.
As with the wall cladding option, can someone recommend what this might look like? What cladding options do I have that would blend in well with an old brick house? I don't want the extension to stand out as cheap addon. Are there cladding types that look like brick?
Better yet, anyone able to post links to photos of old brick houses with cladding extensions?
Thanks in advance!
