Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Jun 19, 2017 4:27 pm Hi Gurus, My house have all tiles for the flooring. I want to change the tiles in the bedroom to carpets while keeping the rest to have tiles. I don't want to lay the carpets over the tiles because the looks and the celling height. Hence I am getting rid of the tiles in the bedrooms. However, it turns out there is 60mm of reinforced concrete (there is not a lot of cement, looks yellow-ish) beneath the tiles. the very bottom is the original hardwood timber floor. There are two options: - get rid of the tiles only and grind the concrete. (it seems very hard to get a good level and dust issue and takes time hence high cost) - get rid of concrete and have around 50mm (assuming 20mm underlay and carpet) of elevation. ( again, cost is a consideration of all options, I am think about re-pouring concrete and have some sort of timer/plywood subfloor) I am open to other flooring such as timer or the link. Any good advise please. Could any of these be asbestos? Best to leave as it is or clean up? Thank you for your thoughts 0 381 |
