We are looking to add an extra floor to our existing brick veneer house. I know we have to get DA/CDC approved first.
- Should we directly approach the builder to do everything or
- Should we approach a draft man to get DA/CDC first and then get a builder?
Obviously we've got budget constraints so i think getting the DA/CDC approvals done ourselves would save some money. On the other hand, how do I know the design is actually feasible to build from a cost perspective if the design and the build are done by 2 independent parties? Do draft mans have idea of the approximate building costs? For example, will the draftman know that I can save 50k if we install a door 2 metres to the right?
