Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Mar 10, 2017 4:28 pm Hi, I am looking to knock out a small wall (~1.5m long) to open up a space for a new kitchen and want some opinions on whether it is load bearing? The ceiling is pitched (parallel to tin roof) with approximately a 300mm cavity. I have tried to crawl under the house to determine if there is any obvious reinforcement under the wall to no avail (very little crawl space). The bearers appear to be running perpendicular to the wall. That short wall may take a beam that divides the span of the room. Best bet would be to remove a few roof sheets above and look over the top of the wall. This way you can get a better visual of the area. If it was carrying a beam you could always look at creating a large opening in the wall above the kitchen bench height. Let us know how you get on.
