My wife and I are about to start the extension journey - I've created a design that's almost construction-ready in Autocad (I have a drafting background), but we need to look at what's possible based on the existing foundation.
The house is circa 1960, double brick 'bungalow' style, sitting on strip footings. Can anyone share what kind of organisation we need to look at the foundations to determine if a double brick second floor is possible based on the strength of the existing footings?
We've looked at MainMark, and their various technologies that exist for strengthening should it be required, but I really have no idea where to start. I'd like to go to a builder already knowing if we have to do a brick veneer or full brick second floor.
Thank you!
