We've been starting to plan the reno to our 2 story 60s Weatherboard home. It's currently built in underneath but not legal height and a terrible layout which cannot be changed without ripping up the slab.
So we've decided there's so much repairs to do downstairs (remove asbestos, replace disintegrating besser external walls, fix rising damp , replace galv piping etc) that we may as well raise and lay new slab etc. My issue is that this will cost us like 200k and so several years off..in the meantime can we reno (totally refit and move plumbing) our upstairs bathroom to get started or will tiles and everything all be destroyed when we eventually do raise? Or do we hold off and do downstairs as phase 1 then upstairs bathroom?
We arent loaded so we'll be DIYing as much ad possiblebut total novices (but not useless). Should be done in the next 50 years.
Any and all advice appreciated.
