Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Oct 11, 2016 12:13 pm Hi, We are doing an extension and I need to match the existing exterior wooden shutters. Any idea where is the best place to source them. https://pfkrbq.bn1304.livefilestore.com ... pmode=none Re: External Decorative Fixed Blade Shutters 2Oct 12, 2016 10:04 am Personally, I wouldn't install them on your new windows and I'd remove the other existing ones. They date your house considerably and make it look like something from the 1970's - you know the decade that style forgot. What about matching the bricks on your new addition ? Have you been able to do that ? Stewie Re: External Decorative Fixed Blade Shutters 3Oct 14, 2016 8:54 am Haha, that gave me a good laugh, though I am one that loves 70's houses. Our house though was built in the late 80's and is a 2 storey colonial. Every house in the area in that style has shutters and I think it needs them as it is flat across the front. I might paint them a more modern colour and I will have white shutters internally on the windows. Re: External Decorative Fixed Blade Shutters 4Nov 06, 2016 9:53 am Stewie, I have chosen PGH Kent bricks. I think they are a close match. It was either that or Bedford Blend but they have a solid red brick in the mix which we don't have in the original bricks. Re: External Decorative Fixed Blade Shutters 7Jan 26, 2017 3:14 pm IT's actually pretty hard to match old stuff on your house - tile, brick, and pretty much all the other materials, if you hadn't kept some spare stuff aside when you first built up the house. That's why restoring old buildings is so expensive. I think you'd probably be better off updating the windows as some people here have said. Or at least changing the whole lot together so that they'll match. Good luck though! All sorted guys. Just needed to buy a blade with the correct bush. Dunno how to delete this post, can't find any help file. Cheers. 1 3663 0 10936 |
