Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Sep 01, 2016 10:21 am this family home needs some reno/repairs and due to the location ( China countryside, basically difficult for trucks to get to the house) resources, workers and small rural town give limited choices. i have included picture here ( BE WARNED not for the faint hearted) http://imgur.com/a/XiwrB 3 people live and work in the house and just to add more stress it is technically in a flood and earthquake zone. my 3 thoughts were to shore up the down stairs first by: 1. building a wooden frame to support each wall and the 2nd level concrete floor 2. steel girders same application 3.build a 2nd internal support wall for each existing internal/outer wall in the house out of brick or other? 4. then start to re point the outer walls, replacing crumbling/damaged bricks then 5. move upstairs and shore up the 2nd level 6. then start to re point the outer walls, replacing crumbling/damaged bricks the lower floor is very very hard dirt fill in the stone foundation boundary. any ideas or links will help greatly. please i understand if someone wants to say pull it down.. but due to culture, logistics and lack of builders it is difficult and expensive (but not impossible i guess ) to use that option.
