Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Apr 27, 2016 5:38 pm Hi! First time posting on here. Sorry if this topic has already been covered elsewhere.... I did a quick search but couldn't find much. We've got a double brick carport on the side of our house. Was looking for advice on best ways to go about enclosing it so we have an extra room. Was thinking bricks with either a couple of Windows or French doors as it will probably end up being the master bedroom eventually as their is already a bathroom/toilet in the carport. Could anyone comment on a ball park figure? If it's going to costs thousands and thousands then I may as well forget it now.... If there's any seasoned members who can tell me how to add a pic of my carport to show exactly what it looks like that would be great.... Re: Enclosing a double carport 2Apr 27, 2016 7:19 pm This is for uploading a photo to photobucket. Other file hosting sites are similar. (Note: You wont see the image until you post your message/topic back here ) 1) Upload your photos to an image hosting site like Photobucket. 2) Click on your photo that you want to post here. 3) Locate the IMG tag under "Share Links" on the right hand side of the photo. 4) Click on that IMG code line and copy it. 5) Paste that into your post here then hit the submit button. If you have a smart phone then using Tapatalk etc for a direct upload here is probably easier... Stewie Re: Enclosing a double carport 4Apr 27, 2016 7:30 pm Something built as a carport is unlikely to have the type of slab required for a habitable room. Bringing that up to scratch will cost. Also, can you get a 2400mm nominal ceiling height as carpets can be quite low? It seems unusual to have a bathroom in the carport - how old is the house? You will definitely need to get approval from Council or substitute. Re: Enclosing a double carport 5Apr 28, 2016 1:09 pm Stewie D This is for uploading a photo to photobucket. The slab in the carport is the same slab that extends through the rest of the house and the ceiling is pitched and is the same ceiling that extends through the rest of the house. Regarding the ensuite it's almost like the builder was going to make the carport a master bedroom then thought better of it and turned it into a carport instead.... Unless his wife didn't like him washing inside? Who knows? I'm aware of needing to get approval from council but I just wanted some ideas on ball park figures to enclose it... I'll try upload some pics to give a better idea of what we are actually working with. Thanks heals for any input! You can really use anything you want the main consideration would be how it looks once painted/finished - or the look you want.
