Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Mar 28, 2016 1:22 am Dear Forum, I am planning to finally do something with my 1920's Workers Cottage. It is located on a great street in a nice suburb, close to Brisbane city center. Best thing is that the 10mW x 46mL is on a street corner giving me 56m of street frontage. my thinking is to create a 'Duplex' style dual living rather than the more traditional upstairs/downstairs separation. My only concern is that I have not seen this design concept anywhere else and am wondering if anyone has any experience and suggestion for & against such a setup? Re: Queenslander renovation and extension 3Mar 28, 2016 2:53 pm Dear qebtel, Thank you So much for your reply. Yes, it is indeed heritage listed. I have been in contact with the council and it is a green light for the idea as such. I still may need a development approval, but this is for other reasons. My query is mainly if 'duplex style' developments like this have been done before in this kind of area and if so; how is the market viewing them? I'd try and keep your renos and extension in the same style and scale as the original part though. Before you engage an architect, draftie or building designer, download the LEP and DCP from your council and have a good read. They will contain all the relevant info regarding setbacks, hard surface areas, max building heights etc. Stewie Hello Josh, This is Irving from PRIMA, we are a manufacturer of the staircase, railings, kitchen cabinets, windows, doors from China.
