Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Nov 23, 2015 1:51 pm Hello, So the story goes something like this.. I ordered colorbond corrogated roofing based on a colour selection I made online. Choosing "Surfmist" from http://colorbond.com/colour which I thought was a light shade of beige (not white!). The order was based through an independant supplier. When the sheeting turned up onsite I thought that the sheets had a white backing colour and the face was a light shade of grey. Ok, so colours shown online are indicative only so I wasn't complaining. I proceeded to lay the sheets on the roof and screwed them in place but when I put the ridge capping on the roof to fit it I noticed that the top was pure white! I thought to myself the silly buggers had rolled the ridge capping upside down. Still unaware of my mistake I stopped working and rang the supplier, but at that point they had gone home for the weekend. So I rang them this morning and to my surpise they said "well you ordered white". So now I am left with 2 options. 1. Replace the roof sheets at cost (Thank you Mr. Supplier) 2. Leave the sheets upside down with the different coloured ridge capping and don't look at them again. My concern is that the under side of the roofing which is now exposed won't last as long as if it were the right side up? The colrubond was manufactured by BlueScope steel, so does anyone know if I need to cut my losses now or leave it how it is? Re: Colorbond roofing installed upside down 2Nov 23, 2015 4:29 pm When I ordered my surfmist roof sheeting for my verandah, the supplier asked me if I was going to install it surfmist side down so he could supply the correct colour tek screws and flashings. Apparently some customers prefer to be able to see the white side from under their verandahs. Also it is supposed to be cooler when installed this way. Re: Colorbond roofing installed upside down 3Nov 23, 2015 6:51 pm Unfortunately I think the light shade of grey is a primer Coat? You would be best to contact Lysaght and check their warranties. The major problem I can see is if you are coastal and corrosion? If I reversed the sheets the holes I've already drilled would be in the valleys in the sheets which would be no good when it rains. The roofing covers a pair of gazebos I built with exposed rafters so I'd have to agree that I don't mind looking at the coloured side underneath. I'll see how it goes and most likely will paint the top of the roof sometime down the track. I plan on installing an undercover walkway (awning ??) from my carport to the back door as shown in sketch.
