I have a 70s/80s home that has a 'feature wall' in the kitchen. Basically I have one column that forms part of the kitchen (it's attached to the kitchen cabinets) that is all brick. The rest is plastered.
I was wondering whether you thought:
1) It was worth it to DIY (I have little DIY experience apart from painting and drilling)
2) I got some quotes for the job anyway but the price seems to be different. The options I have are either to use MDF or to use gyprock on the walls. One or perhaps two of the contractors said that real estate agents may knock on the wall and realise that I'm using the cheaper material (MDF?) and it will not increase the price of the home as much compared to using gyprock. I don't know whether this is a sales tactic or whether this is actually legitimate.
Anyone have any ideas on which material is better in general?
