Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Jun 28, 2015 8:01 am Hi all, newbie here. I'm building a new house and getting the wardrobes installed after handover. Can anyone recommend a good company in sydney? I've been looking at Impressive, Waratah, and Just for You but i can't find any reviews for any of them. Also has anyone tried Blidget before, they sound pretty cheap (from $999), is this too good to be true and a case of you get what you pay for. Any recommendations with some rough pricing would be appreciated. Re: Wardrobe installation recommendations 2Jun 28, 2015 9:14 am I'm looking to get my wardrobes done post handover as well... Keen to see if you find any options which will work in Mel as well.. A friend recommended IKEA but didn't really suit what we were looking for.. Our previous wardrobe was very basic, hanging rail the entire width and storage shelf on top. With impressive we basically customised the whole thing. They were very helpful with the design, and did it for what seemed a really good price - can't remember exactly but for 3 fairly large wardrobes think it was about $1800, and they looked fabulous. BUT.....the quality was not great - a few of the drawers did not move well on the runners, and the adjustable shelving was not always straight (the little holes that you put the interchangeable shelf support nibs into obviously weren't aligned properly). They weren't major issues in the end - we were happy to live with it - and for the price we didn't feel like the hassle of complaining. But overall, next time I would use someone who I feel would pay more attention to those kind of details and pay a reasonable amount more for it. So in summary for Impressive Wardrobes Pros - great value for money - fully customisable - lots of colour options - good advice about standard sizes measurements etc - pretty quick install (no more than 2 days) Cons - only average quality products - not accurate with attention to details, e.g. Alignment - you need to clear the wardrobe out yourself (I think they can do it but is expensive for the task, the guy told us to just do it ourselves) Good luck! Re: Wardrobe installation recommendations 5Jul 02, 2015 12:16 am Hi Oz. You don't need to use a wardrobe company specifically, any cabinet maker can build you exactly what you want. I'd look for a smaller local cabinet maker and then work with them to incorporate full hanging, half hanging, open shelves and drawers at a minimum. There's heaps of different internal fittings that can be used if you are looking for a full on deluxe fit out. Most smaller guys will give you the quality and attention to detail that is missing from the big wardrobe companies. We are also looking for a wardrobes company in Sydney. Quoted me for wardrobes (still had the single shelf installed by builder. They said no prob to build shelving under that. Confirmed several times etc. Turned up on day and instnaller said, no way, can't install with that shelf there...proceeded to pull it out and put hole in gyprock before I could stop him. Took 2 weeks for refund and still awaiting repair to gyprock! Installer was very rude too. Re: Wardrobe installation recommendations 8Nov 12, 2015 6:24 pm Did anyone consider Stegbar? They do good quality wardrobes, with endless configurations and options. They did mine some 6 or so years ago and they still look brand new, and I haven't had any problems. Re: Wardrobe installation recommendations 9Nov 12, 2015 7:49 pm I did try stegbar. They were $2k more expensive and i just couldn't justify that. I ended up going with Academic Wardrobes over Impressive. A little more expensive but their quality is great. Re: Wardrobe installation recommendations 10Nov 13, 2015 9:38 am I know a couple people who recently used Sydney Wardrobe Company. I haven't been to their showroom and not sure about their charges. I will be taking a look in a few months though. Keep us posted Re: Wardrobe installation recommendations 11Nov 19, 2015 10:12 pm Before installation it is important to prepare your project by figuring out all the dimensions for the required space then only you will be able to do exactly what you are figuring out. I am also looking for the company who can help me out to match my reality. Suggest me guys. I will be grateful to you for helping me. Thankyou Re: Wardrobe installation recommendations 12Nov 20, 2015 8:58 pm We used Stegbar 25 years ago. Still looks fantastic. Great quality and we're tight ar$es ... Not ones to splurge. Excellent product/value that's stood the test of time. With our new build (under construction) we looked at Ikea to DIY. We ended up choosing a local kitchen/wardrobe chain in Adelaide as it was same price without the work! Re: Wardrobe installation recommendations 13Nov 24, 2015 3:16 pm I totally agree with what chippy said! Most wardrobe companies install a terriable job with cheap hardware and internals that are only 3/4 depth. You are far better off looking for a local cabinet maker. You will have far more options and get a far better job! Remember the old saying, pay peanuts get monkeys! Been waiting on a kitchen to be completed for 6 months!! Never again!! Re: Wardrobe installation recommendations 15Nov 25, 2015 7:52 pm That's no good. Unfortunately there are rogues in every industry. I certainly hope you haven't paid him yet. I still think that a good cabinet maker is the best option. Unfortunately you seem to have got a bad one.
