Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Jun 06, 2015 12:43 am Hi H1 team. I'm looking at options to add an ensuite to our house, and hoping you may have some ideas I haven't thought of yet. Here are my plans, the only thing they are missing are a large deck that wraps around the back extension from the Laundry door and around to the patio on the east. I'm thinking a simple way would be to extend out the master bedroom (which is the room in the bottom right/south west corner)towards the road, building a new bedroom and the old room becomes the ensuite and WIR. Any other ideas? I need to keep three bedrooms http://i797.photobucket.com/albums/yy251/leeniiloo/Beach%20House/PlansnewHouse_zpsa552a8d9.jpg Recently moved to a 60's home in need of some improvement! http://s797.photobucket.com/user/leenii ... ch%20House Old house: http://s797.photobucket.com/albums/yy25 ... loo/House/ Re: How would you add a bathroom? 2Jun 06, 2015 7:45 am We "stretched" the house to put an ensuite in the 2nd bedroom - alongside garage - approx. 3.5 x 2 mts. . While I thought it would cost a bit - it was pretty good - at plan stage. As the "stretch" on one side meant more room on the other - we made the garage a tad longer too. This worked out well. There is often a bit of give in the structure somewhere - if you ask the builder. Re: How would you add a bathroom? 3Jun 06, 2015 1:18 pm Thanks Mike. To clarify this is an existing house to be renovated, not a new build. Converting the bathroom next door and toilet room into an ensuite with WIR. or totally left of field * make your living area the new master room with ensuite and WIR with the entrance to the room off the entrance hall. Exisiting master could be the new living room Re: How would you add a bathroom? 5Jun 07, 2015 10:10 am I think what you have thought of doing would be the best option...I can't see any other solution. I would suggest, instead of running hot water from your existing water heater, put in an instantaneous gas/or electric if you don't like gas, just for the ensuite. Re: How would you add a bathroom? 6Jun 11, 2015 11:56 pm Thanks for your replies! Yes I have considered moving the master to the front living room and turning the current study/old garage into the ensuite. If we did this if like to extend into the patio at the top right hand side ("pitched pergola") and make the back living area much larger. I also liked the idea of using the Living Room & Garage Area, but you would loose any of that Northern sun and light coming through into your Living Room if you closed it off.
