Re: Asbestos ? pics 2Apr 01, 2015 2:43 pm I'm no expert but there is some internet material that suggests anything built before 1990 is likely to have some asbestos somewhere. There is no way to be sure just by looking at it. To be certain it would need to be tested. This is not very likely so If I were you I would treat it as though it is asbestos. Asbestos ? pics 4Apr 01, 2015 5:11 pm Yes it could. Just because not manufactured does not mean not sold. It's probably ok but why take chances? Don't cut it, and wrap it in plastic to dispose of it. Asbestos ? pics 5Apr 01, 2015 8:37 pm The furry strands tends to look like asbestos however just google asbestos testing. I remember a year ago I found a company in Sydney that did a test for me for $50 per sample. They were really good. Also look on the back for branding. Re: Asbestos ? pics 6Apr 02, 2015 3:05 am Fibre cement sheet. Not asbestos. without seeing it up close I can't say for sure but it certainly doesn't look like it in that bottom picture. I think the confusion maybe the bit of fibre glass bandage that looks fibrous. The actual sheet looks like fibre cement to me. Get it checked but typically asbestos was used in wet areas and plaster board or Masonite in other areas 1 13847 ![]() 1 16767 ![]() 1 17617 ![]() |
