Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Mar 06, 2015 12:22 pm Hi everyone I need some help with a few things. We are renovating our place. When we purchased the place it had dark brown exposed beams and cream colour walls with timber skirtings. The house is not very large and are wanting to repaint the colours to make it look larger and spacey plus we would like to update the timber stairs and rip up the carpet and put in some light wood coloured floating floors. Main issue is: I just wanted to get some advice regarding the paint, do you think Dulux Whisper white walls will go well with gloss vivid white architraves/skirting? We are thinking of getting the large skirting/architraves so we were thinking a white white to make it pop against the whisper white walls ( Dulux Vivid White)? Or should we just stick with the Whisper white on the architraves and skirting in a gloss? Also, in regards to the stairs, we want to stain the steps dark and have white risers. Would we paint the white risers the same as what we choose the architraves/skirting to be or is this a different white? Also i read that people don't do the steps in a high gloss as it may be slippery? so we were thinking perhaps semi gloss? Anyone have advice on this? Ceiling will be ceiling white (including the exposed beams). Thanks SO MUCH! We are renovating for the first time and are having a bit of trouble with the interior design aspect 2 2101 Versaloc is a mortarless besser block system that still needs a properly engineered footing. If you just do a 400x200 footing it will fail in time. At 17m long you need it… 1 3097 Yes, unless you are in a low intensity rainfall area or the area is protected from rain.
