Hello everyone, my wife and I have purchased a double story house which is about 3 years old in Victoria and waiting on settlement. So we are just trying to budget for interior painting, new internal doors. One thing we are thinking of is to move the garage internal access door from one side of the wall to the other.

Note that there should be an opening to the lounge between the stairs and entry, and the TV is on the wall sharing with the laundry.
We are thinking of moving the door to sit opposit the opening so that we can have the TV on either the left or right wall. So my question is if a building permit is required for reloacating that door and approximate how much (cutting an opening for door, install frame and door, and plaster up the other opening)?
Also, do you think it will look odd when you walk into the lounge through the opening and there is a door on the opposit wall?
Cheers
