Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Jan 10, 2015 8:27 pm Hi everyone, I'm a first time user of this forum web site, so here goes. I'm looking at buying a house and I wanted to know if there are any issues with the current owners who appear to have put new weatherboards over the top of old / existing weatherboards. Are there any potential risks, short, medium or long term associated with this (I'm worried because I don't know what the condition of the old / existing weatherboard were)? Regards and thanks, Warren. Re: New weatherboards over old weatherboards 2Jan 10, 2015 10:37 pm Hi Warren and welcome. Is it a timber weatherboard as in Baltic pine or some other product they have used? A lot of the newer products have int/ext corner moulds as well as window reveal sections. It is the window and door flashings that I would be looking at closely, because you wouldn't want any water getting down the back and getting trapped and not being able to dry out.
