Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Nov 29, 2014 10:00 am Hi everyone, Do any of you know if it is possible to use a self-levelling compound over a slab that was originally coloured? I have been reading the data on a few of the self-levelling products and they say there should be no curing compounds (along with many other things). I remember when the slab was laid and we were helping to disperse the colour, the concreter said that it also cures the concrete more quickly. I guess that means it is a curing compound??? I want to tile it all now, and the problem is that to attempt to grind it away would mean a few mm, and that would be a pain. Does anyone have any knowledge in this area? I would appreciate the input. Thanks in advance. Re: Self-leveller over coloured concrete slab?? 2Nov 30, 2014 6:35 pm Hi, no answer to your specific q - however - if you do go to grinding the top layer off can I tell you about a machine we used? It's a concrete mower (I think) designed to scrape paint off concrete - we needed a perfectly level & smooth surface to run floating floor boards after lifting slate (don't go there!) and this machine, hired from Kennards, was exactly what we needed. Took the top 2mm off and left a perfectly smooth surface. We leveled with a slurry of concrete then scraped this back. It has a circular diamond tip blade but otherwise resembles a mower.
