Hi
Can someone please help me I just want to know where I can go to post a warning about someone who has done bad work.
I understand that I can't do it here but I have been burnt badly and I don't want anyone else to be.

If you are worried about defamation, a company of more than 6 or 8 (can't remember which number) can't sue for defamation. Put in complaints where you can ie your Fair Trading or Consumer Affairs. Building Authority etc, maybe they will end up being penalised. There are some support groups out there for domestic building consumers who have had problems, some may keep a database of problem builders. Sometimes you can find support groups on Facebook. Keep an eye out for reviews or people asking about the company to see if you can put up comments or pm people to warn them. If it's a Melbourne company I may be able to put you in contact with one group of consumers who have had particularly bad experience with the same builder, they might be your company. Sorry to hear about your experience and hope things have worked out somehow for you. Re: Renos gone bad 4Nov 07, 2014 5:03 pm I second everything said by kats_meow above. Just one point however in relation to Defamation law - a corporation that employs 10 or more persons cannot be defamed (Section 9, Defamation Act 2005 (Vic). Obviously you can't identify any individuals within the corporation though. Re: Renos gone bad 6Nov 26, 2014 1:42 pm It's really sad to hear about your experience and I hope you managed to put the episode behind you and tucked away into storage. But on the advice side - it's rather interesting that defamation came up on this, it really seems to be the one way that companies "shoot" back at honest reviewers and makes it more difficult for us to navigate the market for a trustworthy contractor. Anyway, I second @kats_meow - find a legitimate body who aims to help consumers and rectify complaints. Good luck! What seems to be the officer's problem?
