Can someone pls give an idea how much we should budget for this incl labour and supply? Thanking you. we are in Melbourne. Re: Decking Porch cost 3Oct 20, 2014 6:30 pm I just got a quote back for approx 32m2 wait for it... $26000!!! Not including excavations! Wth! let's just say I ain't going with these people! Supply + labour is anywhere from $200 to $400 per m2 which would come out to $1000-$2000. Better get some quotes! Thanks Adam, this sounds pretty good. I think between $200-$400 per sqm inc supply and labour is much better than trying DIY right at the front of house. What's recommended wood for Melbourne area? That equates to $813 per sqm, are they building with silver or gold Some trade persons are just so unreal. I'm tossing between exposed aggregate and timber decking for front portico. It's small area but right material will make a look even better. Re: Decking Porch cost 7Oct 20, 2014 9:21 pm mirz PEARZ I just got a quote back for approx 32m2 wait for it... $26000!!! Lol sorry I think that 26000 also includes our insulated roofing as well which was $15000 by itself. misread it still very expensive! Second Build, this time with Carlisle 2016, can't wait! I thought decking in alfresco but I reckon won't be in budget for another year Re: Decking Porch cost 9Oct 21, 2014 10:07 am mirz That's not bad then. Are you planning to deck alfresco or area behind that? I thought decking in alfresco but I reckon won't be in budget for another year Our initial idea was to extend and have a pergola meeting the existing alfresco and to deck the whole area (alfresco plus new extension) but might be out of budget so thinking maybe deck alfresco and have polished concrete where the new extension is instead... very up in the air at the moment as we keep changing our minds every hour, every day! I might stole that too. We are concreting both sides of the house so extend it towards the end of alfresco at rear. That will make alfresco flooring 2m wide and 1m long. Total extra 24 sqm extended alfresco. How much extra it cost to smooth concrete? Re: Decking Porch cost 11Oct 23, 2014 10:31 pm We have decided, no more changing our minds! Umm so our concreter said polished concrete not quite for outside! Oops there goes that idea! Second Build, this time with Carlisle 2016, can't wait! Umm so our concreter said polished concrete not quite for outside! Oops there goes that idea! That makes sense now. Our whole house slab including garage is very smooth but the one in alfresco is bit rough. Re: Decking Porch cost 13Oct 25, 2014 10:16 am mirz That makes sense now. Our whole house slab including garage is very smooth but the one in alfresco is bit rough. It's a bit rougher to reduce the chances of someone slipping over when it is wet. The no polished concrete outdoors is for much the same reasons I'd have to assume. Owner Building at Jimboomba Woods in Logan City Qld. Re: Decking Porch cost 15Nov 03, 2014 6:22 am MyH1Login Hi mirz, have you looked into those plastic wood look planks? Doesn't need yearly staining.. We've been looking at merbau but materials itself is dear. Sounds interesting, that would make it maintenance free. do you know any good supplier/brand for that? We went with wooden windows for facade. It's south east facing and much exposed to direct sunlight. That's another reason making me think about going with decking for our small portico. He was trying to convince me that it's a pretty straight forward DIY being on top of concrete slab. I think front decking would cost us around $800. Re: Decking Porch cost 20Jan 31, 2015 12:27 am I have decided to go ahead with DIY for both portico at front and rear in alfresco at back. Couldn't resist to pickup a sliding miter saw from bunnings other day. This would be my biggest DIY post handover. Hi, as per the subject. Does anyone have any recommendations for the best value decking oil (Bunning is close to where I live) for a treated pine deck? Thanks 0 1254 Use a product like Equisol's Vitalise to clean the deck then coat with a penetrating timber oil. It will look 10 years younger and add value to your home.
