Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Aug 09, 2014 9:39 pm Hi all - I'm about to settle on my first home in Vic. It has an 'inward' bay floor to ceiling window in the living area (I'm sure there is a proper name for it). I'm considering renovating to straighten it out in order to provide more usable living area space. There is also currently a pillar holding up a roof beam. The span is just at the point where I'm hoping I could replace the beam with steel one and remove the pillar. The existing structure is just a flat colorbond roof (not pitched/no ceiling crawl space etc.). Anyone have any thoughts and/or care to throw a guess as to $? How would I progress this - do I need an architect and take the plans to a builder, or do I just go to a recommended builder and they supply their own?
