Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Jul 14, 2014 10:47 am I'm about to jump into my first renovation, but I am a bit confused about licencing. Some parties I have talked to have their building licence as part of a PTY Ltd company, and others do not even though the contract is. I want to make sure I'm not going to walk into a potential mess if things go wrong. Fair Trading Website doesn't seem to give me answers for this. In these examples what is good, and what is bad (ie could go wrong?). What is best practice? 1) Name on Contract to be signed: ABC Builder Pty Ltd Builders Licence: ABC Pty Ltd 2) Name on Contract to be signed: ABC Builder Pty Ltd Builders Licence: John Smith. John Smith is a director of ABC Builder Pty Ltd 3) Name on Contract to be signed: ABC Builder Pty Ltd Builders Licence: John Smith. John Smith is a Nominated Supervisor for ABC Builder Pty Ltd 4) Name on Contract to be signed: ABC Builder Pty Ltd Builders Licence: John Smith. No relationship between John Smith and ABC Builder Pty Ltd 5) Name on Contract to be signed: John Smith. Builders Licence: John Smith. Also in these examples, what name should the Home Warranty Insurance Certificate be under?
