Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Jun 30, 2014 11:30 am Our facade has had a bit of a facelift recently, and our old garage door (colour) no longer suits (it's a panel lift). We are wanting to change the colour of this...probably to a woodgrain look. A few questions: 1. can the garage door be sprayed to a new colour?? 2. If not, what would be the cost of replacing the garage door. The garage works perfectly, we just want a change of colour. Cheers! There are a couple of threads on the forum regarding painting over Colorbond. 2) Unsure. Get a company out to give you a quote. Rather than re-painting it look at some of the new woodgrain colours ( more like artificial wood ) available now. Then do your sums as to which is more cost effective. Stewie Re: Recolouring PanelLift Garage Door 4Jul 03, 2014 8:53 am If your garage door faces north, you might like to consider whilst working on the door, a after market insulation material to insulate the door. It should make a difference to the heat that then gets transmitted in to your house on hot days of summer. It will also reduce the chilliness during the winter months too. As Stewie D already mentioned, you will need a good quality primer and top coats, otherwise you might find that you'll have to repaint in a few years again.
