Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 May 07, 2014 9:05 pm I'm posting this out a bit of frustration. I am about to start painting my first home and i'm fairly particular with how I want my house to look. I almost decided on "chaste violet" in the taubmans range. My issue is that the sample paint once applied has a distinct blue tinge to it (violet in the name would give that away) however it's not quite what I want. Rather I was hoping for a plain grey. Looking at the RGB values of the paint it is R213, G210, B210 (pretty damn close to being a flat grey) which would suggest to me it should not have a blue tinge but more red if anything. The sample image of the colour on the site looks exactly like a flat grey (RGB values all the same). I was about to go buy more sample paints in very similar colours (such as cable ash R213,G214,B214) however I'm worried i'm wasting my time and money since the RGB values are so close and that I won't notice any difference with closely matched colours. Any suggestions? thanks in advance. The colours can be searched using: http://taubmans.com.au/ColourCentre/Explore#search Re: Exterior Paint Colours 2May 08, 2014 8:48 am Sample pots and on screen colours as you probably know are notoriously hard to pin down exactly even with all RGB or CMYK values and a calibrated system. There is no better way of seeing how it looks than a wall painted in the colour itself especially in different light and also with adjoining downpipe colours, paving etc. I'd just do what you have already suggested and buy similar sample pots and paint a wall. Only you will know what you do and don't like. You may waste a few dollars doing it but you should end up with the best result. Stewie Re: Exterior Paint Colours 3May 09, 2014 12:32 pm thanks Silly question but i'll be buying this from bunnings so other input would be good. You can buy White, Natural or accent tabumans endure. I am painting a light-ish grey colour. What type should I use? I cant seem to find any real info on any of them. I ask because the white is a good $50 cheaper. Anyway, thanks in advance. Re: Exterior Paint Colours 4May 09, 2014 2:19 pm Are you still talking about externally ? If you are, an external grade acrylic is your best bet but it will also depend on what kind of surface you are painting it onto. Some acrylic renders only guarantee their product if Dulux paint is used.
