Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Apr 04, 2014 6:13 am Hi This is something I hadn't thought about before. When putting up a new internal wall, is it best practice/required to remove the plaster board above the top of the studwork or just leave it sandwiched between the rafters and the stud. In the UK we leave the ceiling plasterboard in place. Just wanted to check there wasn't any regulations etc. Cheers Re: Studwork to ceiling 2Apr 07, 2014 11:13 am Hi alexf40, I am not aware of any regulation that would make you remove the ceiling plasterboard. I assume that you would be addend a cornice to hide the joint between the wall and the ceiling. The only time when these sorts of things come into play is when you are creating 2 separate dwelling units. That is when you need fire separation and it becomes an entirely different situation. If it is just a new wall in a house or apartment then no problem. I hope this helps. Cheers, Jenny. Need hints, tips and inspiration?
