Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Feb 21, 2014 12:34 pm Hi there all. Hope someone here can help me. Im wanting some advise on possibly extending my colour bond garage. See per pics my car almost fits in, I take it this garage was designed with a smaller/shorter car in mind? Ive been here for 7 months, newly bought house & never knew this till I tried parking my car in the garage! Was at first visiting the house for inspection & to buy with my dads car & that fit in no worries, smaller/shorter car. Can this colour bond garage be extended forward say by a meter to fit the car in? Im wanting to do the whole front where roller door is extended 1 meter extra if possible? Are there qualified people out there who would do this? And where do I go? who do i go to? Im in melbourne. And how much could this cost me? Thanks for any help I may get, really appreciated. Builder, handyman? You'd just need to remove the door and add two sides and top then rehang the door. You'd only need to come out 500ml. It would have to be solid enought to hold the door of course so would need to be built properly. Maybe contact a colourbond business. Take the photos in and get a quote. Good luck. That's a pain. Re: Garage extension advice 4Feb 22, 2014 8:22 pm Imo to be solid same wall as garage door would all have to be all extended out including columns & rails or beams? that hold that wall & moved approx 500mm. If it all costs me more then to buy another bigger garage than not worth it imo but have an idea now. Thanks for you reply travelbug! Re: Garage extension advice 5Mar 02, 2014 8:39 am I'd speak to any local supplier of colourbond sheds. It definitely is possible - just a case of how much. Agree, that you would need to extend the frame - and not sure about the slab/flooring?? And can't tell if it is a flat roof or gabled roof - if gabled - with the slope going down towards where you want the extension, this may all have to be altered to?? But it is doable - they would just add another panel width (or two, depending on your requirements.... going by the space between the garage and the house, I'd say one panel to allow walking space between??). The shed places should be able to do it - if they wanted to take it on). Good luck.
