We are extensively renovating our house in ACT and I need some advice on creating a new bathroom stud wall with a recessed shaving cabinet.
The shaving cabinet that we are recessing is 1200mm x 720mm x 1500mm. As the stud wall thickness is 90mm, plaster 10mm and tile with adhesive is 10mm that is a total of 110mm, this means the shaving cabinet would be sticking out aprox. 40mm (including mirrored doors).
We want to build the wall out the extra 30mm or so (sorry don't have the door measurements) to sit flush will the shaving cabinet, then only the doors will be sticking out from the wall.
Do we simply attach 30mm of pine on each stud of the wall to gain the extra space or is there another way to do this?
Also this runs a long the wall where the shower is, so I guess we continue it the full length of the wall and loose the 30 mm or so from the shower too?
Hope I explained it well enough
Thanks,
D
