Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Dec 31, 2013 11:44 am hi there, i'm new to the forum and new to the home reno thing! we are renovating an old 1950s weatherboard in a bush setting. the house has lots of colorbond river gum (now called wilderness) paint- the roof, trims etc. too much for us to change. we are, however, looking to change the colour of the weatherboards and roof. currently the weatherboards are quite a bright, fluoro yellow type colour. the roof is river gum. i was originally thinking of doing the weatherboards a classic cream colour and the roof a light gunmetal grey. now i am having crazy thoughts of putting some sort of lilac into the mix, as i love the look of lilac/violet with the green (think wisteria). i was wondering if anyone knows of a paint colour (preferably dulux) that is a type of creamy lilac that would look good on weatherboards. also looking for a recommendation of roof colours. hubby has said i can go a bit 'out there' on colours, but not too outrageous. any help would be much appreciated Re: paint colours 3Jan 05, 2014 1:47 pm Hi Ginger sorry I can't help with colours but love the idea of a lilac - maybe post in the home decorating section of the forum and put a call out to Michelle I love her sense of colours viewtopic.php?t=62083 Re: paint colours 4Jan 06, 2014 7:07 pm Consider your climatic condition at first. You can choose white or light shingles if you want to cool your house otherwise you can pick dark shingles which can absorb the heat and make your room warmer. Thanks Re: paint colours 5Jan 06, 2014 9:02 pm Pictures would help get more replies. People have to be motivated to google what rivergum paint looks like etc to be able help you. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7143 Thank you. That is really helpful.
