Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Nov 12, 2013 5:41 pm Hi All, I've got a landscaper redoing my front yard and he'll be demolishing absolutely everything and starting from a clean slate to produce a clean and modern look to tie in with the style of the house. The paths and stairs to my front verandah are going to be paved, but I'm wondering what should be done immediately outside my front door on the verandah. Is it normal to tile that area outside the front door, or pave if you have paths/stairs leading to it that are paved?? I think the answer is tile, but I'd like to know what is considered normal, or standard please. Thank you in advance. I always thought portico areas were paved unless they were on a different level to the path/driveway - then they matched whatever else was done on the verandah areas. I don't think it really matters. We tiled with travertine! There isn't really what I'd call a standard in my area. The verandah does sit at a height that is three steps above the driveway, and then it's half a step up to go inside my front door. I suppose I'm just after whichever look is more modern, as that's the style of all of our renovations, and of course ties in with the paved steps. I never thought something like this would be such a dilemma Re: Tile or Pave? 6Nov 13, 2013 10:04 pm What about an aggregate in polished concrete? You could do some burnished stripes for non slip....
