Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Oct 09, 2013 7:20 pm My husband and I have just bought a 1950's house on a 1600 block in the hills. We have done all of the research into sub-dividing, knock down and rebuild etc etc. Finances and our heart keeps bringing us back to a reno at our pace. I fell in love with the kitchen as its an original and intend to keep it in some fashion. Everyone I speak to thinks we are mad, and should sub divide, knock and rebuild. But by the time we give the tax man his cut on CGT fees etc etc I just don't want to do it. Are we the only ones that have fell in love with a wreck and can see the potential? We are aware it will be a long process and will cost more than a rebuild but.. I would just like to know I am not the only one out there - we have no prior experience! I dont see why it would cost more then to build a whole new one though? From what I can see of your floorboards I bet they would come up amazing too. What are your plans? I see some walls I would take out to make it more open plan (Make bed 2, 3 and the kitchen one big room) and perhaps an extension at the back? Couple new bedrooms and a bathroom? Use the existing bathroom as an ensuite Our 1970's reno viewtopic.php?f=53&t=65931 Re: Adelaide - 1950's reno project 8Oct 10, 2013 5:23 am My ex husband and I did up a house that was in worse condition than yours, it turned out great.
