Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Aug 05, 2013 5:35 pm Hi. We are planning on purchasing a house that isn't quite finished. One of the little jobs is that the skirting boards are not yet attached to the walls (they have been cut to size though). It is a steel framed house so I know I should use counter sunk screws and then fill in before painting, but I'm wondering if I can get away with liquid nails or similar with no more gaps along the top? What would be the consequences of this? Will it last 7-10 years (when house will be due for a repaint - as it needs repainting now)? House is on concrete stumps and has Tasmanian oak flooring in most of the rooms (tiles in bathrooms) and carpet in a couple of rooms which we might replace straight away if we can afford it (it's a bit manky). Thanks. Re: Skirting boards on a steel frame 2Aug 05, 2013 6:56 pm You can buy hardened finish nails which shoot through the steel. A bead of glue is what I also usually do for good measure aswell, but suit yourself as to what works. The hardened nails are only availe to suit a "DA" style gun not a "C" bradder. You shouldnt have any problems down the track, because to be honest, the no more gaps does a lot of the work in holding the skirting on anyway Andrew Hi I am wanting some opinions about the build of a steel shed I am going to get one about 4.5 x 2.5 m steel shed and the height will be about 2.3-2.4m high The one I am… 0 14449 This is 100% true. You can not hang anything on steel frames. very frustrating 8 8036 |
