Currently nothing is preventing the boards from moving and falling into the channel. This is dangerous for me and for my family. I would like to get the boards on top of the channel in a way that they would be flush with rest of the garage floor. For that I would have to attach a steel corner to the edge of repair channel to support the boards. Under the channel edges there are no support walls and support is provided by two U-beams. My initial plan was to attach the steal L beam with 8mm concrete anchors (500mm spaces). That would be 8 anchors per side. This would mean that I'd have to drill holes to those supporting U beams. The holes would be small and would locate almost in the center of the beams but still I don't feel confident in drilling structural support beams. What is your opinion, will it decerease the structural integrity of the floor (or the beams) considerably? Re: Attaching car repair channel cover boards 2Jul 13, 2013 10:36 am Drilling through the U beam might prove difficult with hitting reo. But if you must go this way, beefing up the thickness of the angle would allow fixing spacings to be doubled, however I would stitch arc weld the angle in place -- although it might prove painful when bumping into it. Why not stitch-weld some square or rectangular section instead? Arfur Re: Attaching car repair channel cover boards 3Jul 16, 2013 5:34 pm Yep welding is a much better idea!
