Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Jun 11, 2013 6:53 pm Hi All I have my house getting rendered (concrete) and the painters will be coming to paint the whole of the exterior of the house. We have just realised that with the new paint and the existing eaves (white but a bit dirty and grey) , it's going to look a bit funny. Guttering is old and in need of a bit of a clean. So have obtained a quote for painting both the eaves and gutters. Now given scaffolding is up (so access is E.A.S.Y), given they are already here for house and given eaves are not that wide (probably only 70cm), I didn't think it would be that much. But have been quoted $22 a linear metre- will only need one coat since it's already been done previously and this is just a repaint. Does this seem too much or am I naive? It will end up at thousands of dollars to go right around the house at this price. Re: Cost to paint eaves and gutters? 2Jun 12, 2013 8:11 pm Not sure the exact linear meter rate but over all that seems pretty expensive considering its only one coat. Maybe best you buy a paint brush and start working Re: Cost to paint eaves and gutters? 3Jun 12, 2013 10:19 pm Do it yourself. I know what you mean, but you're not painting the eaves, you're painting the soffits. Scrub off dirt, hose down, scrub with a brush and then hose it down. Just paint it yourself. It doesn't really matter if paint gets the on the wall. It's very easy and safe. Doesn't have to be a prefect job. I like Wattyl Solagard. I found it covers about half what it claims, but it's still cheap to DIY. Re: Cost to paint eaves and gutters? 4Jun 20, 2013 8:51 am I agree, do it yourself. I am doing the exterior of my house at the moment in Melbourne and saving at least $6000 doing it myself. It does sound very expensive... as that small area shouldn't take them more than a few minutes, especially with scaffolding up! The two 15mm holes are obviously not compliant. The Dept of Fair Trading would love to see this one! Do the gutters pool water after it stops raining? Although it's… 4 7820 Update from me! Couldn't find the trimmer - not sure if there isn't one simply because the eave is so narrow. Went ahead with the spring toggles and it all worked out… 7 5832 custom probably not. Volume, most defiantly, but spec would vary. If youre doing a knock down, there additional costs associated with that that will eat into your budget… 1 10225 |
