Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Jun 06, 2013 2:33 pm Hello I'm hoping for some advice on how to proceed with getting our bedroom ( and rest of 1920/1930's house) completed. We have so many little repair jobs that all seem to link in together that I am unsure how to proceed. My most pressing concern right now is the master bedroom, which has recently had some major cracks repaired. Turns out there is some more 'drummy' plaster around, and some lumpy plastering that my husband was trying to work on. The list of things to do are: - sand back some of the lumpy plaster and maybe try to smooth it over, some of these areas are drummy, wonder if I can get away with just ignoring it - repair work done on door frame from when it was pulled off the wall to deal with electrics. When this came off, a lot of the paint and plaster around it pulled off also, as well as paint seriously coming off frame in sheets - some repairs on skirting boards and picture rails and fix spots where it isn't attached to wall properly - remove and replace all beading trim around the base of skirting board - re paint the entire room - re paint door frame - install new built in wardrobe Any tips on order that I should have the wardrobe put in, painting, and carpentry? Today we removed all the furniture from the room as I was planning on just sanding back the plaster and painting but some of it was falling away from the walls, the old paint was coming off from where the door frame and picture rails have disconnected from the walls. Should I just ignore all this and go ahead and paint? I have a carpenter coming in a few weeks hopefully to deal with the skirting/architraves etc around the entire house. Should I wait until after this to paint? Install wardrobes? We are truly exhausted from the DIY on this house. Thanks I am new to this forum so please bear with me.
