Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Jun 04, 2013 8:16 pm Hi, first time poster here. We are renovating our house and have have the plans for the facade. Now the hard bit starts! We are liking the idea of woodland grey for roof and windows but we are open to ideas. Then there is the render colour...we would like a contrasting colour around the garage and then a lighter colour for the rest of the house. Nothing too light though. I am all paint coloured out! Help me! Here is the link to the facade ( hope it works) http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f213/ ... d79b0e.jpg Re: Ideas for render colour 2Jun 06, 2013 11:03 am I would suggest keeping Woodland Grey on the roof and windows. Jasper would then be good around the garage door and either Dune or Paperbark for the rest of the house. You also have to consider your fascia & gutter. keeping them woodland grey would be a safe bet but you could get away with doing them as a contrast. if you go with paperbark to the rest of the house, consider a lighter fascia & Gutter colour (Sandbank, Dune, Surfmist) but if you go with Dune, keep them Woodland Grey. I can post a pic if you want to give you an idea.. First one looks more pinky/brown than it usually does because the sun was setting: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Second photo shows the colour of the render better but it was getting dark so not the best photo. How do you find the woodland grey windows from the inside? Is the darker colour of them imposing? It was one of my worries... Especially since we are having huge staker doors at the back. I was worried that the dark colour would stand out to much if we were to have a all white kitchen etc. Re: Ideas for render colour 8Jun 10, 2013 10:31 am Hi Raemit, We actually have black window frames as we have solar block windows and are also getting security screens. Our walls will be grey and with the dark floors, it doesn't look too bad from the inside, but it would look totally different with white walls. Here are some pictures: Our stacker doors Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ With our white kitchen Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Toilet - so you can see it on a smaller window Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ My build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65324&p=1032514#p1032514 Re: Ideas for render colour 9Jun 10, 2013 4:16 pm The house looks great Zalira, thanks for posting more pics. The windows look good! Puts my mind at ease. We are having floorboards through out, and I was leaning towards a darker bench top which should work in with the window colour. When do you move in? Looks close to finish! Re: Ideas for render colour 10Jun 11, 2013 9:41 am House looks fantastic! Very interested in seeing photos of the final product! Re: Ideas for render colour 11Jun 11, 2013 9:42 pm Hey Raemit, I think we're still a few weeks out. They haven't given us a new handover date yet but the old one was yesterday. How about Dulux Malay Grey? We've got it on some linea board at the side of our house (between the render and the bricks and it is quite a nice darker grey http://www.google.com.au/search?q=dulux ... 55#imgrc=_ It looks nice here with whisper White and Linseed http://smallthingssimplepleasures.blogs ... halls.html My build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65324&p=1032514#p1032514 Re: Ideas for render colour 12Jun 12, 2013 2:24 pm I love that colour combo! That's the problem with paint colours, there is just so many you get overwhelmed! Fingers crossed that it won't be too long before hand over. It must be do exiting to be so close to moving in finally! Good luck! Hi Alex, Thanks for the reply again. I had a chat with the builder, he said he will use primer, then hydrotec which comes with colour and sealer as well.
