I am renovating the kitchen and I have a cooktop which starts about 44 cm from one end of the stone bench top. I am thinking of installing a powerpoint about half way and that may be too close and would probably get cooking spatter on it. Any thoughts? There are regulations in each state and for insurance purposes alone you need to follow them and get a Certificate of Compliance. But if something were to happen and insurance company investigated and found out it was not to standards than you can run the risk of a claim being approved or not.
