Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Mar 20, 2013 10:50 am I’m in the process of replacing two worn balconies at the front of my house and need some feedback from you guys. One balcony is 5.8m x1.5m long and the other one 3.3m x 1.5m What I plan to do is to merge these two balconies together and extend the small one out by 5,5m to double as carport. So final result would be L shaped balcony. Will be using Boxspan steel framework, Sycon Secura Flooring, Tiled on top, villaboard on bottom to seal it up, powercoated 90x90 posts with railing up to $50m2 Total area is approx 45m2. Ive been quoted $28.5k which doesn’t include council d.a/fees. From the above, is the price reasonable? Appreciate any comments or feedback on the above Re: Cost of Exterior Balcony/deck 2Mar 20, 2013 2:37 pm Hi Sabrelli, Generally you would be looking at $400 per m2 for a standard plain deck with supports and merbau decking. That equates to $18,000 for 45m2. For $10,000 more for Boxspan steel framework, Sycon Secura Flooring, Tiled on top, villaboard on bottom to seal it up, powercoated 90x90 posts.... maybe it sounds about right? What ever you do, make sure the builder has references! Re: Cost of Exterior Balcony/deck 3Mar 20, 2013 2:56 pm Thanks for the prompt response and advice. Yup!i plan to ask for some references so I can check out the quality of their work. Ive got another quote coming in so i can compare the two. First time building 2 storey home in NSW.
