Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Mar 07, 2013 1:49 pm We are renovating our 80s home ready to sell when we move into our new home after it is built. We have decided to lay laminate flooring over the ugly chipped tiles in the main rooms. This means we could remove the bar in the backroom as the gap it would leave in the tiles can just be filled and the laminate will cover it up. It takes up a bit of room in a small room that is meant to be a games room but you can really fit anything in. In fact it has had no furniture in it for ten years other than ours cats scratching posts! My concern is that maybe I have not realised that a bar is a selling point?? What I am asking really is will taking it out add value or will it take value away? I am more than happy to take to it with a slegde hammer LOL I just dont want to make a mistake in taking it away. Thanks!! Pamela Re: Bar, keep or remove 2Mar 08, 2013 12:17 am Remove it. I have one in my current house (a rental while we build) and think it is the worst use of space ever. In every place we inspected before deciding to just build a bar was immediately noted as something to rip out. Not a selling point, more of a hassle. HD Re: Bar, keep or remove 5Mar 08, 2013 9:39 pm I'm going to add my agreement here. Rip it out. I've never seen the attraction in them. Always so tacky. Seriously - do people like to imagine they are a bartender and stand behind them serving drinks to guests? They take up so much room and seem so pointless.
