I have a large attic, which has sloped ceilings.
On one side of the room (sloped end), there is a wide ledge - much like a sunbed (approx 1.5m deep, 1m high).
This ledge is carpeted on-top, with the facing wall appearing to be made of brick.
Firstly, I wonder what is the purpose of this ledge, and what is contained within the vacant space beneath it.
Secondly, I wonder if I could cut into the brickwork to insert some sort of draw feature for storage space.
It seems a waste to have a cavity like that in such a large room unused!
I assume it is not load bearing...
