Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Feb 13, 2013 7:17 pm We are doing a fairly major reconfiguration of the house and also turning a garage into a master bedroom. We are deciding on flooring in the main living area/kitchen. We like the look of timber however hardwood is out of the budget. It seems as though the existing boards under the carpet at pine (not sure what kind, if you can tell from my under house pic I'd be much appreciative). We are thinking of either trying to use the existing boards (although I worry they will be too soft with a boisterous dog and future kids), Laminate to emulate hardwood or bamboo. We want something that looks good but also cost effective considering the whole job will be over $100k. Anyone got any experience or advice with these types of flooring?
