Our steps when they are finished will have wooden treads with steel stringers and spine, with steel balustrade topped with wood handrail and stainless steel cable. So I guess provided they are the finished product they all seem reasonable. Seems like alot of money for so little, doesn't it? after reading what you paid for your staircase, although assuming it is a bit more complicated, $4k+ sounds cheap.
