Our house has alot of internal brick walls and they make it so dark. The time has come to start painting inside. Thanks. Re: Painting Internal Brick Walls... 2Jan 06, 2013 11:35 pm Not very common these days, but still do-able. As you know bricks are porous to some extent, so you will use more paint compared to plastered walls. You just need a good acrylic sealer coat, one coat is usually sufficient. Let the sealer dry for a few hours. Then you can start on the colored paint of your choice. Some painters may say 2 coats on the walls is sufficient, but a lot of builders these days will get their painters to put 3 coats on the walls. The extra coat in my opinion is needed, to stop any of the brickwork underneath from showing up on your new paint job. Hope this help you out. Re: Painting Internal Brick Walls... 3Jan 07, 2013 7:52 am Thanks bkm, very helpful. I have since been googling and found a product called texture paint. Probably something the whole world knows about already but I've only just discovered it It goes on like render and there are different grades, eg. fine, medium and thick. It's all ready to go straight out of the can after a stir so no mixing cement. I think I might give this a try on a small wall and if I like the look, continue on. Thank you alexp79 and gommeqld for your advice, that's very helpful, thanks 3 6295 Thanks. Yeh ideally that would have been good, but have progressed too far now. Hoping some well placed internal walls fixed up into the battens will provide some… 2 3470 3 7493 |
