Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Nov 03, 2012 10:25 am Im considering buying a home in Perth - it is perfect for us but needs a three room extension. The house is about to come on the market but I have been in it before and can guess at areas. I would need to know an estimate cost of additions before making an offer. It would be a pretty basic extension - it would involve knocking down a wall and adding 3 rooms. Does anyone have any suggestions of reasonably priced builders who would do a good job? Is Dale Alcock Home Improvements any good? The current home is full brick but is not on a slab. Before you put an offer, why don't you find a building surveyor who can inspect the building and give you a guideline? Sounds like your place is on limestone like mine. Re: Cost of adding rooms in Perth 3Nov 04, 2012 6:54 pm Its sandy soil here and yes, I will get a building surveyor to check the property out first. I was wondering who I approach about the additions - does anyone have experience with any building company - I have to figure out who to ask for quotes........ Re: Cost of adding rooms in Perth 4Nov 05, 2012 10:47 pm Friends of mine used Dale Alcock and were very happy with them. They tend to be quite expensive like most of the large renovation & extension companies. As yours isn't a large build you might be better to find a smaller local builder. Maybe have a drive round the suburb and see if there is any building happening nearby. Cost of adding rooms in Perth 5Nov 06, 2012 8:31 am I know a building inspector who also has a building company. I think he's done extensions before as we'll he'd prob be a good contact. I've seen others on here recommend him as an inspector as well. Will add the info and link when I'm on the computer later today. Edited to add the below info: In fairness to other building inspectors I'll add a link to the thread with the discussion here and you can scroll down and find the information. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=57844&p=902900&hilit=perth+inspections+nor#p902900 Hey, I am wanting to add a second toilet to my house, bit we have limited room. There is a hallway/entry that is never used, so was thinking this could be an option. Only… 0 4697 2 2963 I am not sure whether Perth has its own way of doing things in regards to this. Most of Perth has class A (sandy soil), except for some areas near rivers or hills. 2 13063 |
