We want to replace 2 sliding doors in our place. It is solid brick house, with two doors of standard size. Some manufacturers have said installers usually order the doors about 5 - 10mm smaller to make it easier to install the new door. Prices for installation are about $1000 per door and we are told installing 2 doors and 1 window would take about 1 day - this is coming in at about $2750 for installation (if arranged by the store). We are trying to save money and I was a tiler for 10 years and confident with wet trades, and semi confident with this, but would like to know what I am in for. Any tips out there?
How do I secure the door to the brickwork considering I don't want to damage the outside bricks - inside has timber frame surround covered with architrave - Do I revove the timber surround, install door and put frame back in?
Thanks in advance.
