Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Aug 29, 2012 6:59 pm I have painted a wall with dulux metallic paint in gold and now after a year (typical female) have decided I want to change it back to a normal finnish and change the colour , the paint was water based so can I just paint over it a few times with my new colour (which is also water based) or as it is that funny stroke effect do I have to do something else? I just want the best finnish possible and the easiest method. Re: painting tips? 2Aug 29, 2012 7:18 pm you will need to do some prep work before painting, try and flatten the texture by sanding with a float using 120 grit. Next you will need to prime and sand again, then prime and see how it comes up, depending on how heavy the brush strokes are you may have to repeat to get a good flat base for your new paint. Just be careful with building stability during construction, that is when the structure may be weakened, refer to your engineering drawings for stability methodology. 1 7215 Thank you so much.
