Browse Forums Renovation + Home Improvement 1 Jun 18, 2012 10:24 am I am planning to DIY a timber deck on tiles on my 5x3 balcony. I looked at timber decking pavers, but that does not suit my criteria, cause I do not want that tiles look and need to raise the level of about 200mm. 2 issues I need solutions to would be 1. Making sure the deck does not slide around without Bolting on to the tiles, and not damaging the tiles. 2. Making sure I can still access to clean beneath the deck (leaves, dirt etc..) Thank you. Re: Decking on Tiles 2Aug 10, 2012 8:06 pm You might want to check out the building codes for your state. There might be a minimum amount of space between the ground and your deck and if you are building the deck off the house a gap between house and deck for drainage. You will also need minimum spaces between supports. If it's timber and you are staining it that might drip below causing damage to tiles, you can get spacers to put between the boards when you are laying the deck as they may expand/contract during weather. I'm only going on things we had to think about we we got our deck put in recently so somebody on here who is more of an expert than me might be able to help further. Hi, as per the subject. Does anyone have any recommendations for the best value decking oil (Bunning is close to where I live) for a treated pine deck? Thanks 0 10970 Use a product like Equisol's Vitalise to clean the deck then coat with a penetrating timber oil. It will look 10 years younger and add value to your home.
